About this program
ARPA-E OPEN solicitations run every three years and fund potentially disruptive energy R&D across the entire technology spectrum - generation, storage, efficiency, transportation fuels and grid architecture. OPEN 2026 places added weight on first-of-a-kind demonstrations and technologies that reduce import dependence for critical minerals. Cost share of 5–20% applies depending on entity type.
